A dozen students of the Social Action volunteer program of Anáhuac University (ASUA) met in the auditorium of this International Campus with Rocío Moreno Medina, Director of Sustainability of Grupo Lomas, as part of their training as leaders of positive action.

ASUA is a volunteer program founded in 1964 at the Anáhuac Mexico University, which today is replicated throughout the Anáhuac Network and involves the entire university community. Students integrate its activities with a high social commitment that fosters genuine social awareness based on universal values and promotes leadership and service to others through concrete and honest actions.

On this occasion, the International School of Social Responsibility and Sustainability held the "ASUA with...," a space where consolidated leaders of social or environmental action with a long trajectory approach young people to share experiences, advice, concerns, and projects.

This time it was the turn of Rocío Moreno Medina, a recognized social welfare manager and public relations officer from Quintana Roo. She has worked for civil associations and public and private institutions as responsible for developing, implementing, and promoting quality programs in the care of vulnerable groups. Nowadays, she's the Director of Sustainability of Grupo Lomas, and she is a speaker and disseminator of issues in favor of comprehensive training and social development in different national forums.

In this meeting, Rocío Moreno emphasized that sharing her experiences with young university students is important because they will be the ones who will do the work shortly to improve the world. Therefore, it is essential that they take ownership of the projects and also like to get involved, so it is just guiding them because they bring successful ideas. But on the other hand, it is positive because every university student is creative, has fresh ideas, and is fortunate. Consequently, they must get to know different, less favored faces of life to become aware and empathetic leaders.

For Ms. Goretti Gamboa Tamay, Coordinator of Social Commitment, involving these young people is essential because students should be aware of the work done by NGOs and the importance it has for society. In addition, in this way, they get a better idea of what sector to focus on that social commitment they have inside, which calls them to this volunteering.

That is how Anáhuac Cancun University, through the International School of Social Responsibility and Sustainability, encourages its young people to get involved in social action and to continue forming leaders of positive movements and agents of change that make a difference in social development and sustainability.
